PRAGUE 27 May (Xinhua) – At the invitation of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) of Germany and Czechslovak Foreign Institute (CFI), Mme. Yan Junqi, Vice-Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of China Association for Promoting Democracy and President of CAFIU headed a delegation to visit Berlin and Nordrhein-Westfalen of Germany and Prague of the Czech Republic from May 20 to 26.
In Germany, Yan Junqi met with Mme. Buhlmahn, Deputy Speaker of the German Bundestag and they exchanged views on China-Germany and China-EU relations, as well as the “Belt and Road” initiative. President Yan also met with President Beck of FES and they held discussions on the distinctive role of people-to-people exchanges for China-Germany relations, as well as measures of strengthening friendly cooperation between CAFIU and FES. Besides, President Yan visited Heinrich Heine University and learnt about the latest development in research and innovation in German universities as well as Germany’s energy transformation.
In the Czech Republic, President Yan visited Mr. Vojtech Filip, Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament and KSCM President and exchanged views with him on China-Czech relations and the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt. She also had talks with Mr. Jaromir Slapota, President of the Czechslovak Foreign Institute and discussed on effective ways to improve China-Czech people-to-people exchanges as well as the understanding and cooperation between the two organizations.
