At the invitation of CAFIU, a 15-member joint NGO delegation composed of prominent politicians, NGO leaders, think tank researchers, media representatives from Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Costa Rica headed by Mr. Rodrigo Penailillo, former Minister of Interior of Chile visited China from Sep. 4 to 13, 2016.
In Beijing, Ai Ping, Member of the National Committee of CPPCC and Vice-President of CAFIU met with the delegation. Deputy Secretary-General Zheng Yao held a working discussion with the delegation. Experts from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) gave thematic lectures on China’s 13th Five-Year Plan, new development philosophies and the“Belt and Road”Initiative. The delegation also called on the leading members of the Department for Latin-American Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and China Youth Daily.
Apart from Beijing, the delegation also visited Jilin Province and Shanghai. In Jilin, Vice-Governor Sui Zhongcheng met with the delegation. The delegation listened to his briefing on the strategy of revitalizing the old industrial base in Northeast China and latest developments in economic and social areas in Jilin. The delegation visited Jilin University and held a discussion with the teachers and students. It made field studies on CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., Haoyue Group and Fengman Hydroelectric Power Station. In Shanghai, the delegation visited Linfen Community Cultural Activity Center, Shanghai History Museum and conducted interactions with local residents.
