CAFIU Holds First Webinar on Chinese and American Peoples’ Perception of Each Other
 
On June 19, CAFIU, Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University, and the Global Alliance of Sharing Economy jointly held the Webinar on Chinese and American Peoples’ Perception of Each Other with the theme of “China and U.S. Faced by COVID-19: How the Two Peoples Look at Each Other”.
The webinar was chaired by Mr. Ai Ping, CAFIU Vice President and former Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. An extensive discussion was conducted among Mr. Su Ge, Chairman of the China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, former President of the China Institute of International Studies, Mr. Wang Huiyao, President of the Center for China & Globalization, Mr. Pan Qingzhong, Executive Dean of Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University, Mr. Ge Jun, Secretary General of the Global Alliance of Shared Economy, Mme. Wei Nanzhi, Deputy Director and Associate Research Fellow of the Social Culture Research Office of the Institute of American Studies, CASS, Mr. Djoomart Otorbayev, former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Grzegorz W. Kolodko, former Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, Mr. Joan Kaufman, Senior Academic Director of Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University and Professor of Harvard Medical School, Mr. Michael P. Powers, Professor of School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, and Mr. Chad Futrell, Executive Director of Student Life of Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University.
The representatives spoke highly of China’s important contribution to the global fight against COVID-19. They agreed that China’s active participation in global governance demonstrates its responsibility as a major country. A good China-US relationship serves the common interests of both countries and the people of the world. The two countries should further strengthen exchanges and conduct close cooperation in response to global challenges. They suggested that the two peoples of China and the US should enhance exchanges and further promote mutual understanding and mutual trust in order to facilitate the improvement of bilateral relations.
