To deepen cultural exchanges, promote mutual learning among civilisations, and enhance people-to-people connectivity, China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE) and the Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAFIU) will jointly hold an essay and short video contest themed ¡°China¡¯s New Era in My Eyes¡± from April to September 2022. We sincerely invite you to join the contest. The arrangements are as follows:
1. Theme and Topic
Under the theme of ¡°China¡¯s New Era in My Eyes¡±, a participant should write an essay or shoot and make a short video about the facts and vivid stories he/she has experienced in the past decade about any of the following topics: China¡¯s economic and social development, scientific and technological progress, ethnic harmony, urban and rural changes, the fight against COVID-19, Olympic spirit, or international exchanges.
All the non-governmental organisations and individuals who have received the invitation are eligible to join. These organisations and individuals may contact the organisers if they would like to recommend other NGOs or individuals to participate. Participants can submit entries either in their own names or in the name of their organisations.
As the contest includes collection of both essays and short videos, participants can choose either or both of the two items. The entries submitted for the contest should be based on real and personal experience. The entries should be original. Any entries which have been published in any books, newspapers, magazines, websites, or new media platforms, or have been submitted for other similar contests will not be accepted. The length of the essay submitted for the contest should be 1,000-2,000 words, and there is no restriction to the genres. The short video submitted for the contest, which can be a drama, documentary, or cartoon, etc., should be around 5 minutes. The resolution of the short video should be no less than 720P. All the major video formats including AVI, MOV, WMV, MP4, and RMVB are allowed. The language of the essays and short videos should be the official language of the participant¡¯s home country, English or Chinese. The entries should be sent to the designated email box (attached hereafter). The subject of the email (in English or Chinese) should be as follows: Essay contest- Participant¡¯s passport name - Nationality - Title of the Essay (for essay contest), or Short video contest - Participant¡¯s passport name - Nationality - Title of the short video (for short video contest).
Duration of the contest: April to September 2022 in the following two stages:
(1) Entries collection (late April - July 31, 2022)
(2) Award appraisal (August 1-31, 2022)
The organisers will set up a panel to appraise the entries.
The organisers will announce the list of winners on the websites of CNIE, CAFIU and the Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network (SIRONET) on September 1, 2022.
For the award-winning essays and short videos of the contest, the authors should have the copyright and the right of authorship, and the organisers should have the right to use them. The organisers have the right to use the essays and short videos for publication, publicity, exhibition and other purposes.
The participants should have full, complete and exclusive copyrights for the entries, and shall not infringe any third party¡¯s right of portrait, right of reputation or other intellectual property rights as well as personal ownership.
There will be 5 first-prize winners, 10 second-prize winners, and 15 third-prize winners in the essay and short video contests respectively. The winners will be awarded certificates and medals.
The number of winners may adjust subject to the number of participants and the quality of the entries. The organisers will invite some winners to visit China or attend important online international events according to the COVID-19 situation.
