CAFIU Vice President Liu Hongcai Attends the 17th Beijing-Tokyo Forum

The 17th Beijing-Tokyo Forum, co-hosted by China International Publishing Group and the Japanese Genron NPO, convened from October 25 to 26, under the auspices of China¡¯s State Council Information office and Japan¡¯s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Themed on China-Japan Relations amid the Great Changes and the Reconstruction of International Cooperation---Thoughts on the Normalisation of China-Japan Diplomatic Ties, the forum was held in Beijing and Tokyo at the same time in dual online and in-person formats.
CAFIU Vice-President Liu Hongcai attended the forum as the guest speaker at the sub-forum on bilateral politics and diplomacy, exchanging ideas in terms of the overall situation of the world and different regions. In his speech, Liu advocated that under the impact of profound changes, China and Japan should uphold multilateralism and work together to address the challenge. Both sides should stick to the political consensus, seek common grounds while setting aside differences, and extend common interests by formulating all-round cooperation. Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalisation of China-Japan diplomatic ties. It gives us great opportunity to implement the consensus reached on between President Xi and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida , which is to enhance communication and exchanges, strengthen overall coordination and cooperation, and open up new development prospects for further growth of the relations.
